Who can take part?
Because the course is divided into legs, it’s perfect for runners of mixed abilities or anyone who isn’t able to run a full 13.1 miles. Entrants just need to be aged 15 or above on Event Day. Each team also needs a captain, who must be at least 18 years old on Event Day.
Ideally you’ll run as a team of four, but if there are only two or three of you one or more team members are welcome to run additional legs – all we ask is that the runner who starts the relay is different to the one who finishes it.
How long are the legs?
The New Balance Big Relay has four legs of varying distances so each team member can pick the one that suits them:
- Leg 1: 3.5 miles
- Leg 2: 1 mile
- Leg 3: 3.9 miles
- Leg 4: 4.7 miles
What does it cost to enter?
The really great news is the New Balance Big Relay only costs £16 per team to enter – that’s just £4 per member!
We’ll send each team member a New Balance participation T-shirt and running number in advance – wear them on the day so everyone can see you’re taking on the New Balance Big Relay. It might make it easier for your supporters to spot you too!
And, of course, each member will also receive their own medal once they’ve completed their leg at their changeover point. On the subject of changeovers, these will be ‘contactless’ this year – our team at the changeover points will talk you through the process.
Keeping in touch
Don’t worry if this sounds like a lot to remember – we’ll email you in the run-up to the New Balance Big Relay with everything you and your team need to know about taking part.
