2022 event date confirmed

London Marathon Events confirmed today that The Big Half 2022 will take place on Sunday 4 September.

This will be the second successive year that The Big Half has taken place in the later part of the year rather than its original March date. (The 2021 event took place on Sunday 22 August.)

Hugh Brasher, Event Director for The Big Half, said: “The Big Half is a wonderful celebration of London’s diversity featuring communities and groups of all ages and abilities from the four host boroughs of Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark and Tower Hamlets participating in a range of events from a free family event over one mile right up to the half marathon distance.

“We believe this new place in the calendar allows the event to develop further. Having contended with the ‘Beast from the East’ in 2019, Storm Jorge in 2020 and Covid-19 in 2021, this new September date should ensure the wonderful community elements of the event, including The Big Festival and The Little Half, will flourish and grow further.

“We are extremely grateful to the Mayor of London, the London boroughs of Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark and Tower Hamlets, Transport for London, The Royal Parks and our many other partners for their support in confirming the date of Sunday 4 September for 2022.”

The Big Half starts by Tower Bridge and finishes alongside the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.
