About The Vitality Big Half
The Vitality Big Half is a half marathon in London that follows a stunning 13.1-mile closed-road course, starting by Tower Bridge and finishing at Cutty Sark in Greenwich. The 2021 event takes place on Sunday 22 August.
London Marathon Events created The Vitality Big Half in 2018, in partnership with Sported, because we recognised that many of London’s running events didn’t truly reflect the communities they pass through. We want to change this by bringing Londoners of all backgrounds and abilities together in a celebration of the city’s diversity.
So while The Vitality Big Half features the some of the world’s best athletes – in the men’s, women’s and wheelchair elite fields – and thousands of mass participation runners taking on the same course, it’s much more than a half marathon. It’s a community running festival and everyone is invited!
Fun and inclusive events
On March 1 2020, a record 16,222 participants crossed the Finish Line in the third edition of The Vitality Big Half and that’s not to mention all the spectators and local residents who got involved on the day and made it feel so special.
We also support local groups and organisations by offering special £10 community entries as a way of inspiring under-represented communities to take part. We prioritise providing these entries to groups that actively work to include such communities, in particular Black, Asian and ethnically diverse participants – if you’re interested, check out our Community Entries page for more details.
