Charlotte Purdue

Charlotte Purdue is the The Vitality Big Half’s defending champion following her impressive win last year and she comes into this year’s event in good form. The Aldershot, Farnham & District AC athlete set a new PB of 69:49 over the half marathon distance in Japan in January. She is preparing for the Virgin Money London Marathon in April where she will be looking to improve her marathon PB of 2:29:23.

Charlotte Arter
Born: 18/6/1991
Half Marathon PB: 69:40 (Barcelona, Spain, 2019)
The Vitality Big Half record: 3rd 2018 (71:31)

Charlotte Arter is one of the most improved distance runners in Britain – a fact highlighted by her smashing the Welsh half marathon record at the Barcelona Half Marathon last month with a time of 69:40. The time slashed nearly two minutes off her previous best which she set in coming third at last year’s The Vitality Big Half.

Lily Partridge
Born: 9/3/1991
Half Marathon PB: 70:31 (Reading, GBR, 2015)
The Vitality Big Half record: 2nd 2018 (71:06)

Lily Partridge was the first British female finisher at the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon and will be using The Vitality Big Half to warm up for another tilt at the London Marathon this year. Partridge was second at The Vitality Big Half last year. Partridge is a former English Cross-Country champion.

Steph Twell
Born: 17/8/1989
Half Marathon PB: 71:56 (Guernsey, GBR, 2010)
The Vitality Big Half record: First appearance

Steph Twell made the move from track racing to marathon running at the end of last year, finishing seventh in the Valencia Marathon in 2:30:11. Twell has represented Great Britain at two Olympic Games (2008 and 2016) and bronze medals on the track at the Commonwealth Games and European Championships.

Gemma Steel
Born: 12/11/1985
Half Marathon PB: 68:13 (Great North Run, GBR, 2014)
The Vitality Big Half record: First appearance

Gemma Steel has the fastest half marathon PB in the women’s field with a time of 68:13 set at the Great North Run in 2014 which makes her the third fastest British woman in history. Steel won a silver medal in the European Cross-Country Championships in 2013.
