#MovedByLondon: Jarnail Singh
14 November 2018, 9:30 a.m.
Jarnail Singh started running last year. On Sunday 4 March 2018, he took part in his first ever half marathon; The Vitality Big Half.
Now, Jarnail wants to encourage others to take the first steps on their running journey.
"I run in different parts of London, but I do love running along the river in Greenwich. When you’re running on your own it’s kind of meditative and you find yourself actually. It tells you who you are and who you can be.
"The Vitality Big Half was my first half marathon and it was a bit of a challenge for me, but I took on the challenge and I’m still on the running journey.
"Before The Vitality Big Half I was thinking it’s not achievable; how can I do it when I’ve never run more than 11 or 12km? But sometimes you need to trust yourself and you need to do something you’ve never done before.
"I know there are probably many people who haven’t signed up for this event yet because they’re scared of how it would be and think maybe they can’t achieve this target.
"If I can do it you can do it as well. Just start your journey somewhere."
Jarnail Singh is one of six Community Champions who will be sharing their running stories as part of The Vitality Big Half #MovedByLondon campaign. Look out for more from our Community Champions over the coming weeks.
