How to Enter

Championship Entry

The 2018 race

The Big Half will host the 2018 British Half Marathon Championships on Sunday 4 March after British Athletics appointed London Marathon Events Limited to organise the Championships.

Applications to run in the 2018 British Half Marathon Championships are now being accepted and are available on a first come, first served basis. Meeting the entry criteria does not guarantee a place in the 2018 event.

The Championships will also serve as the final selection event for the British team for the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships which take place in Valencia on Saturday 24 March.

Your application will be checked and you will be sent an email to let you know if you have secured a place or not.

If you have not received any correspondence from us about your application by 5 January 2018, please contact our helpdesk on 020 7902 0200.

If you are successful in obtaining a place, you will receive unique log-in details with a link allowing you to complete and pay for your entry by the 17:00 deadline on 12 January 2018. Please note: if payment is not made by this time you will lose your place.

Do I qualify?

Male runners must have achieved sub 75 minutes and female runners sub 85 minutes at a half marathon since 1 January 2016 to enter the British Half Marathon Championships.

Additionally, you must be a member of an athletics club associated with British Athletics and you must be registered with your National Governing Body (i.e. England Athletics, Scotland Athletics, Welsh Athletics, or Athletics Northern Ireland). If you are not sure whether you are registered, please check with your NGB.

You must meet all of the criteria, otherwise your application will be rejected.

If you do not meet the qualifying time, you may still be eligible to apply for a Good for Age place.
