Runners With Disabilities

The Vitality Big Half is an inclusive mass participation event which aims to cater for runners of all abilities, including those with disabilities.

Please read the information below to find out more about who can take part, how to enter, and what to do if you have a disability and have any questions or concerns about participating in the event.

Who can take part?
  • Day chair athletes (see ‘day chair entry’ below)
  • Visually impaired runners
  • Hearing impaired runners
  • Any person with a mobility impairment who can run

The following are not currently permitted in The Vitality Big Half:

  • Handcycles
  • Walking frames
  • Electric wheelchairs
  • Rewalk suits

People who are unable to self-propel themselves around the course – for example, those who need to be pushed in a race buggy – are not currently permitted to take part.

Day chair entry

Due to health and safety restrictions, there are 12 day chair places available for The Vitality Big Half.

Please note: all day chair entrants must be able to self-propel themselves (without assistance) around the course.

Elite races and racing in a chair

Entry into the elite races at The Vitality Big Half is by invitation only. There will be a time limit of one hour to complete the 13.1-mile course.

The Little Half

The Little Half is a fun, untimed event that will see up to 4,000 people take on the 2.4-mile course, starting in Southwark Park and finishing at the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.

The event is not a race, and is the perfect challenge for first-time runners or anyone looking to get more healthy and active. Please visit the Little Half entry page for more information.
