Final Instructions

The Final Instructions are e-mailed to all participants ahead of Event Day and provide everything you need to know about running The Vitality Big Half, from attaching your timing chip to your shoe to how to get to the Start Line.

You can also view the Final Instructions by clicking the button below.

Your running number is GREEN or ORANGE.

This colour indicates which version of the Final Instructions you need to read and which Start Area you need to go to on the day.

It is essential that you note the colour of your running number and read the Final Instructions that match your colour.

If you go to the wrong Start Area you may miss out on taking part in The Vitality Big Half. Nobody wants that to happen, so please read your instructions carefully and make sure you know exactly where you are going to before you set off.

International runners

Runners who live outside of the UK will receive different Final Instructions, explaining how to collect your Event Pack.

The New Balance Big Relay, Little Half and Vitality Big Mile Final Instructions

Final Instructions will also be available for runners in the New Balance Big Relay, The Little Half and The Vitality Big Mile.

Getting to the start

All runners will be asked to use public transport to get to the Start Area. We suggest that runners DO NOT drive to the Start as parking will be extremely limited and some roads will be closed for the event.

The course

The Vitality Big Half route starts by Tower Bridge and finishes at the iconic Cutty Sark and goes through the four London boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Lewisham and Greenwich.

All runners will be able to leave baggage at the Start. This will be transported to the Finish in Greenwich, where you will be able to collect your kitbag after the race. A PA system at the Start Area will tell you when to put your kitbag onto the appropriate baggage vehicle. Once you have deposited your kitbag on the lorry, you will not be able to retrieve your belongings until you arrive at the finish.

Runner's World will be providing pacers at The Vitality Big Half, running at the following paces:

  • sub-1:30
  • sub-1:45
  • sub-2:00
  • sub-2:15
